The Galapagos island and the Cape Verde islands have plants and animals that are very different from each other. The species of animals and plant lives in the Galapagos island are more related to species live in South America because south Galapagos island lies between 500 to 600 miles distance from south America.

The species found in Cape Verde are more related to African species as Cape Verde island is situated at nearly 570 km from the western coast of Africa.  

So it is possible that due to their nearest distance from the different continents these islands receive migration of plants and animals that evolved on these islands so they are very different from each other.
