(a) when edges become denser and gravity pulls them downward and away from one another.
(b) cooler and denser crust sinks into mantle.
(c) folding and crumpling and sliding upward creating mountains.
(d) currents just beneath earths crust flow very slowly causing movement in the plates above them.
