What are the independent and dependent variables for both hypothesized situations?
Hypothesis #1
Different materials will change the temperature at different rates when exposed to the same amount of heat. This is because the different materials absorb heat at different rates. The Sun's radiation warm the surface of the Earth. Among the factors that affect heating on the planet's surface is the altitude of the location. The elevation affects the climate of the place. UV increases in high altitude places. The latitude changes the way the Sun's rays impact the Earth. It changes the light of the daylight hours in various places of the Earth. Solar ultraviolet radiation impacts the surface of the planet. The surface "keeps" the heat and reflects it. SUrfaces such as concrete, metal, and sand from the beach reflect UV onto a person. UV radiation can diffuse although a person is under shade. Scattered UV can reach the person. The Sun's radiation warm the surface of the Earth. Hypothesis #2
Since the soil will be receiving more direct light due to the higher angle of insolation, the temperature of the soil will increase. There is a connection between the amount of heat the soil absorbs and its temperature. There is a connection between the amount of direct light the soil receives and the amount of heat it absorbs. If the angle of insolation is higher, then the temperature of the soil will be higher because it will receive more direct light.
