1. Choose either the male or female reproductive system to study. 2. Identify one common problem or malfunction of this system.
Examples:
Male - Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, low sperm count, infertility, low testosterone,
birth control (vasectomy)
Female - Infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, cervical cancer, endometriosis, ovarian cysts,
birth control (hormone treatment/birth control pill, tubal ligation)
3. Write a short summary of the issue and its treatments. Use the following questions as a
guide:
a. What is the name of this malfunction, or what is the birth control procedure?
b. What does it cause in the male or female, or explain how the birth control method
works?
c. How common is this problem in humans?
d. How is this problem treated by medical professionals, or what does this birth control
procedure do in the body ?
e. When treated, how likely is it that people with this malfunction are able to reproduce
successfully, or how successful is this birth control method?
