People will often say about someone that they look like one or other of their parents, or that they have many more characteristics of one parent. Two possible explanations for this are:
1. The child received more genes from the parent they are most like and fewer genes from the parent they
appear to be unalike.
2. The child received the same number of genes from each parent, but the characteristics we notice were
affected more by the genes of one parent and not the genes of the other parent.
Which of these explanations is correct? Explain.
