Procedures

1. Connect the gas sensor to the computer interface.

2. Obtain 25 germinating peas and blot them dry between two pieces of paper towel.

3. Place the germinating peas into the germination chamber.

4. Place the CO2 sensor in the respiration chamber as shown in figure 1

5. Wait 4 minutes, then begin collecting data. Record the CO2 concentration readings every minute for 10 minutes.

6. Fill the respiration chamber with water and then empty it. Thoroughly dry the inside of the respiration chamber with a paper towel.

7. Obtain 25 non-geminating peas and place them in the chamber. Repeat steps 3 – 7.
