After this experiment, you should have a greater understanding of the scientific method. You can take this knowledge to the next level by designing other experiments pertinent to
environmental sciences. One major environmental concern of our time is soil salinity.
Soil salinity is a measure of salt content in soil and can result in degradation of soils and
vegetation, severely decreasing crop yields. The ions responsible for soil salinity are:
Na, K, Ca2+, Mg²+, and C1. High levels of salt in soil may result from human activities
such as irrigation, land clearing, aquaculture activities, and salting icy roads. Briefly
explain how you would use the scientific method to perform a lab experiment to study the
effects of soil salinity on plant growth. Make sure you use the concepts of experimental
design, hypothesis testing, data analysis, and interpretation of results. It may be helpful to
include the following in your experimental design. You may have to do some online
research for this question.

One function of the poly-a tail on eukaryotic mrna sequences is to the mrna be transported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. prokaryotic mrna also has a poly-a tail. choose the best explanation of the prokaryotic poly-a tail. a. prokaryotic poly-a tails are composed of a different molecular structure compared with eukaryotic poly-a tails. b. prokaryotic poly-a tails have the same functions as eukaryotic poly-a tails, because this process is highly conserved throughout different species. c. prokaryotic poly-a tails aren't important, because prokaryotes don't have nuclei. d. prokaryotic poly-a tails have other functions, because prokaryotes don't have nuclei.

Cladistics is a way of classifying organisms by examining the characteristics of their ancestors and descendants and depicting the relationships in a cladogram. which of the following best describes a challenge in classifying organisms this way? a. there are millions of species on earth, and a cladogram is not a practical means for classifying all of them. b. it is impossible to tell which organisms are most closely related to each other using a cladogram. c. cladograms are detail-oriented and do not provide a useful understanding of evolutionary relationships. d. there is a limited number of ways to organize the information, so most cladograms end up looking very similar.
