I think that this one is the most likely answer, however C also makes sense whereas is gives an explanation as to how the structure of the seeds might be affected. However, it doesn't seem right to say that it was caused by and electromagnetic radiation considering the fact that the radiation is based more around electromagnetism. Both of these answers may seem unlikely to you so I'm going to try to make an explanation for one of the others to give you better insight on what could be the answer. If some of the seeds manage to make it to a different area with possibly different soil, then it is possible that the seed would need to mutate in order to survive the conditions of the area around it.
