We asked whether skunks were more common in rural or suburban areas in North Carolina. To address this question, we counted the number of road kills that showed up along cight sections of rural roads and cight sections of suburban roads. Each of the 16 sections of road was 40 miles long and volunteers traveled them daily during the month of August
2020. Volunteers counted and kept track of the total number of road kill skunks observed during the month. The data are shown below. Use a Rank Sum test to determine if there
is a significant difference in the numbers of road kills between the two different habitats. Answer the following: 1. What are the two sums of ranks?
