The type of functional response expected of the eastern  kingbird in order  to increase insect prey abundance is the type ii functional response. this is characterized by a decreasing intake rate wherein it is assumed that the consumer is restricted by its capacity to process its food. in this regard, to increase insect prey abundance, the consumption of the eastern kingbird must decrease.
