What happens when a cell divides by mitosis

Mitosis:
Interphase- chromosomes are indistinguishable
Prophase- chromosomes become visible under the microscope and nuclear envelope breaks down.
Metaphase- chromosomes line along the equator by spindle fibres
Anaphase- spindle fibres contract causing the movement of chromatids to the opposite poles 
Telophase- nuclear envelope reforms around the two new nuclei and chromosomes become indistinguishable again
Cytokinesis- the cytoplasm of the parent cell divides creating two new daughter cells which are genetically identical
