How does the complexity of ecosystems contribute to their sustainability

An ecosystem is, by nature, a functional whole of organisms and inanimate environmental factors in a coherent area, which includes both natural and non-natural objects (animals, plants, rocks, etc.) in a certain limited area.

Thus, there are ecosystems that have greater degrees of diversity than others, depending on the different variants of living beings and plants that compose it. The more diverse an ecosystem, the more complex it will be considered. Thus, the more complex and varied it is in terms of its composition, the more sustainable it will be. This is so because, given the differences between the different members of the ecosystem, there is not such a great competition for the resources of the living space, since each species has a different interest and consumes different resources. In this way, a balance is generated by which the different members of the ecosystem consume the resources necessary for their subsistence without depleting the production capacity of the ecosystem.
