Hominids refers to humans and its closest relatives such as the chimpanzee, gorilla etc.

The basic trends in hominid evolution include:

1. The use of the rear limbs or legs for walking instead of four.

2. There was also an increase in the abuse and discoveries of the terrestrial habitat.

3. Their brain was known to increase in size which made them more sophisticated in thinking and knowledge.

4. They started making tools and used it to hunt wild animals for food.

5. There was a change in their diet as it went from fruits, leaves and other staple foods to the inclusion of a large amount of meat as a source of protein.
