Coronavirus has been around for a long time. Two strains were first discovered in 1960 in
human patients showing symptoms of the common cold (later named human coronavirus
229E and human coronavirus OC43),
SARS Cov 2 is a strain of this virus that recently started infecting humans. It was present
in other mammals and managed to make the jump. It originated in Wuhan China and
causes the disease known as Covid 19. It is evident that these other animals are able to
coexist with the virus in their environment without catastrophic consequences. This
unexpected outbreak caused major concern worldwide because of the unknown
characteristics of the virus and the infection. Already, the human immune system has
adapted to respond and combat this strain. Unfortunately, there are some people, with
reduced immune response that will succumb to it,
From your perspective, what will be the lesson learned in relation to the natural ability of
the human system to combat these novel strains and the society's response (quarantines,
social distance, hygiene, commerce modification)?
