Explanation: Photosynthesis is a process that converts light energy into chemical energy in a multi protein complex called a photo system.

There are two types of photo systems are present in the thylakoid membrane: photo system II ( PSII) And photo system I (PSI). Each photo system captures the energy from sunlight by exciting electrons and these energized electrons are transported by “energy carrier” molecules, which power the light-independent reactions.

light energy passes to two special chlorophyll a molecules in the reaction center. The light excites an electron from the chlorophyll a pair which passes to the primary electron acceptor and then replaced. In photo system II, the electron comes from the splitting of water, which releases oxygen as a waste product. In photo system I, the electron comes from the chloroplast electron transport chain.

light-independent reactions also called calvin cylce do not use light takes place at day or night for functioning they require the products of the light dependent reactions. The light-independent molecules depend on the ATP and NADPH, to form new carbohydrate molecules. After energy is transferred, the energy carrier molecules return to the light dependent reactions to take more energized electrons. but several enzymes of the light-independent reactions are activated by light.
