compare the digestive systems of a flatworm and a human. be sure to include examples of the various structures found in the digestive system of both organisms.

the flatworm digestive system has one opening called a pharynx. food enters through the pharynx into a network of tubes called the gastrovascular cavity. in the gastrovascular cavity, enzymes break down food. digested food is absorbed directly into the flatworm’s tissues. to get rid of waste, the exact opposite occurs. 
humans have a complex digestive system with two openings. food enters through the mouth and passes through a series of organs that with digestion. the stomach grinds food and breaks down food particles. the small intestine further breaks down food molecules using enzymes. food is absorbed into the bloodstream in villi in the small intestine. the large intestine then absorbs water from the waste, before the waste is expelled out the anus.
