while conducting research for a college biology class, meg discovered a chemical that stopped the growth of damping off fungi on germinating seedlings. damping off is a huge concern for seed and plant companies as it results in large losses as seeds germinate and develop. often it requires replanting. meg's professor suggested that she share her results with seed companies. he was sure they would benefit from seeing her research photos in order to assess the the effectiveness of the chemical meg used.
