4. compare: how are the inputs and outputs of photosynthesis and respiration related to one another?

The input of photosynthesis is the vise versa of respiration. This means that the input of photosynthesis is the output of respiration. The input of respiration is the output of photosynthesis.

The over all  reaction of photosynthesis can be written as :

6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light → C6H12O6 + 6 O2

The overall reaction of respiration can be written as:

C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP

These reactions are opposite  of one another. The reactants of one of these are the products of the other one.

step 1 ammonium can be absorbed by plants, but some is converted into nitrates which are better for plants to absorb. this is called nitrification. 2. step 2 the deer eats the plants and uses the nitrogen-containing proteins for cell growth. 3. step 3 bacteria in the soil conduct nitrogen fixation to convert nitrogen gas from the atmosphere into ammonium. 4. step 4 some of the nitrates are absorbed back into plants, but denitrification breaks down the nitrates into nitrogen gas released back into the atmosphere. 5. step 5 nitrogen is found in the urine, which gets broken down into ammonium through the process of ammonification. 6. step 6 plants absorb the ammonium and begin assimilation, the process to add the nitrogen to protein.

when atoms of different types of elements join together, they make molecules called compounds. water consists of compound molecules made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. this is why it's called h2o. water will always have 2 times the number of hydrogen atoms as oxygen atoms.
