A compound microscope is used to see high detail of information when objects are placed onto the glass slides. It has a magnification capacity of up to 1000x in most cases. A light microscope is utilized while studying individual cells within live tissue.

On the other hand, a dissecting microscope which has a maximum magnification of 100x is used to observe three-dimensional objects and bigger specimens. This sort of microscope can be utilized while analyzing structures that are difficult to mount on flat slides or to investigate the exterior characteristics features of an object.
