We know that Jesus Christ died for the remission of our sins. He died as a sacrifice, so all of our transgressions were lost and we were saved in that moment.

However, we are sinners by nature, and even with Christ's sacrifice, we continue to disobey him.

However, God is always willing to forgive us and we can do that, seeking to follow his guidance. When we realize that we are free from sin and ready to leave our sinful nature behind, we can make the decision to be baptized.

Baptism dignifies a rebirth, when we dive into the water we leave our sinful old self behind, when we return to the surface, we are a new creature, purified and ready to follow the principles defended by God.
