Aclient is cutting vegetable for dinner and accidently cuts his finger. what response is desirable to destroy foreign agents such as microorganisms to prevent infection from developing in the finger?

out of curiosity is this question short response and if so are there any parameters to stay in because if we are being very technical the "client" could kill himself and not have to worry about any form of infection.
