In South Florida, the non-native Burmese pythons have developed a breeding population, and are one of the most issue creating invasive species in the Everglades National Park. With the local wildlife, the pythons compete for food that comprises birds, mammals, and other reptiles.  

The declining of many mammals in the National Park is being associated with the growth of Burmese pythons. Of which the major impact has taken place in the remote southernmost parts of Everglades National Park, where pythons have got established a long time ago.
