Why is it important that cells formed by mitosis have the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell?

Mitosis refers to a procedure of producing more cells, which are genetically similar to the parent cell. It plays an essential role in the development of embryos, and it is essential for the development and growth of the bodies as well. Mitosis generates novel cells and substitutes the cells, which are lost, old or destructed.  

In mitosis, a cell differentiates to produce two similar daughter cells. It is essential that the daughter cells exhibit a copy of each chromosome, so the procedure includes copying the chromosomes initially and then carefully distinguishing the copies to provide each new cell a complete set.
