In both meiosis and mitosis the following similarities exists –

a)These both are the mode of cell division

b)  Mitosis produces diploid cell. However meiosis has two parts – Meiosis I and Meiosis II. In meiosis I , diploid cells are produced while in meiosis II these diploid cell further divide to form haploid cell

c)They both follow similar steps i.e prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.
