Gene is the unit of inheritance contained in the chromosomes. Genes are passed on from parents to offspring and control diverse traits in organisms. Certain occurrences change the traits of organisms by influencing the gene pool.

Gene flow is said to occur when members of population migrate to a different location and interbreed with another population of the same species resulting in new combination of genes.
