Terza Rima is composed of tercets with a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line of one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third line of the following tercet. 

The rhyme scheme is aba, bcb, cdc, etc.

This type of poetry was invented by Dante Alighieri. He used it to structure his work, The Divine Comedy.
