He would take a typical genre scene and use his wife and children as models. one of the most famous and scandalous paintings he created was Odalisque where he depicted his wife as a prostitute who has dark hair and a mysterious facade which was very different than the normal fluffy brushed, flirty, pale skinned rococo paintings
