On a remote island in the middle of the sea, a young girl befriends a fish: a magical fish with shining scales that emits soothing melodies. Music and light from the fish's bowl that only the girl can hear and see. They help her to relax and sleep. One unfortunate night, a violent tidal wave makes an unwelcome visit. With rage that no island could withstand, the crash upends everything. The fishbowl topples and sinks to the sea, freeing the only fish that lives inside. This is the story of Sleepy Fish. As Sleepy Fish sinks into the ocean, the sun has more and more trouble reaching endless depths. The world dims and darkens. The fish seeks the comfort it once provided for the girl so it sparks brightness and creates melodies, calming itself and giving hope that the girl and the fish might once again unite. Something magical happens:
the fish, thinking only the girl can hear its music and see its illumination, notices the sea is being lit by its scales, notices the animals reacting to its song. What a joy to shine and sing in the deep, so far from the sun.
After moments of loneliness and loss, a shimmer of hope - like a beacon of light - appears. The fish shines brighter than ever before with a newfound purpose. It dazzles like a thousand stars and forms symphonies from within. A marvel of sparkles. A brightness of dance. A musical spectacle as it floats beneath the deep. By the depths of the sea, where sunbeams so rarely touch, the fish swims in place and shines for days, weeks, months. Creates vibrant songs, even prettier than the previous. Sleepy Fish calmly roams between the reefs, between creatures of the sea. As if its fishbowl has expanded into the everlasting night of the deep.
Every day, Sleepy Fish swims forward to spread its light. To calm and soothe its new world and to maybe, one day, find the young girl it once knew. It ventures ahead into the deep blue, where the sunbeams vanish, where its songs await with patience.
This is the story of Sleepy Fish.
