When it comes to understanding and performing or playing music, learning about the basics is crucial. And when we talk about the basics, we are talking about the elements of music—rhythm, pitch, melody, and harmony—all of which you explored in Unit 2. And for this lab, you will have the opportunity to further explore and demonstrate your understanding of these elements in a multi-media slideshow presentation! The guidelines for this lab are pretty simple and allow for maximum creativity on your part—you will create a slideshow presentation with a minimum of one slide dedicated to each of the four elements of music.

Each slide should include the following:

A title (the element should be featured in the title of the slide)
A basic definition or overview of the element
An audio or video example of this element
You may find an audio or video file online and insert it into the slide or you may create your own audio or video file demonstrating the element in a creative way
An image that you can reasonably associate with the element and a brief explanation of the image and how it relates to the element
Outside of the above guidelines, you can feel free to let your creativity run wild!

Your goal should be to offer a thorough and complete overview and explanation of each element, including an audio or visual demonstration that creatively represents each element. Outside of these guidelines, feel free to insert your own personality and creativity in the form of colors, fonts, graphics, images, and audio and visual elements!
