hello. im in middle school and i wanna learn how to play electric guitar. my parents are fine with it, but they have a few things theyre worried about. they think im starting too late and that i'll quit. the reason they think that is because when i was in 5th grade i decided to play trombone with my friend. i didnt enjoy its because i had to use my mouth. is there anything i can do to avoid that with the electric guitar? i dont think i'll quit because ive wanted to play since i was 9. but anything can happen. i have a few questions that i'll put in the comments.

1). Normally, most people do start off with the acoustic guitar, but it doesn't mean that you have to. Some people might find acoustic guitars easier to start off with, while some find that electric guitars are easier.  I believe that you should start off with the electric guitar, since it's believed to be easier for beginners. But, if you want you want to learn how to play better quickly, I recommend the acoustic guitar. Although the acoustic guitar tend to a little bit more difficult, it can help you get used to the cords and notes better.

2). It is normal for your finger tips to become sore while first learning the guitar. To avoid bleeding and reduce the pain, I suggest taking breaks while playing to help your fingers get used to the sensation. There will be soreness, you really can't avoid it while first learning the guitar. Many people form calluses on their finger tips to help reduce the pain. It usually takes up to 4 weeks for them to form. Playing on thick-gauge strings can help toughen your finger tips.

I suggest renting a guitar for a week or two to see how you like it, before making the final decision.  

you need the motivation too do it and if you do not have motivation then you will not succeed. Yes, its challenging in the beginning. My dad played and plays the electric guitar, and I play clarinet. He tells me to practice and practice. It's hard in the beginning? YES! But if you are doing something you dream of doing it'll be worth it in the end.  If you are not gonna put up with hard part of starting. Don't start and don't play at all. If it's what you wish to do then do it.
