The Greek and Romans created a wall paintings of landscape and gardens-cape. after the fall of the roman empire the tradition of depicting pure landscapes declined and the landscapes was seen only as a setting for religious and figure scene. this tradition continued til the 16th century when artist began to view the landscape as an object in its own right. the artist shift seem to have correspond to a growing interest in the natural world sparked by the Renaissance.
