A George Bizet´s masterpiece. Carmen was first seen as a despicable Opera, since its subject and starrings individuals did not belong to the standard people who would be able to go and see this type of shows: the proletarians. Bizet never imagined how popular this opera will be after 10 years of its presentation.

Written under a category called ¨opéra comique¨ (FR), which mixes dialogues and singing, Carmen is the story indeed of a gypsy woman who isn´t, by any chance following the XIX century rules for a woman. The librettists had to work on the script to have it understood by the highclass, the spectators.

Carmen is a gypsy seductive woman who is in between two male lovers, to whom she manipulates at her desires throughout the four acts. Ending tragically for her. Her male partners are Don Jose and Escamillo.
