Journal Prompt: One of the major themes in “Of Mice and Men” is friendship, especially between George and Lennie. In your opinion, what makes a good friend? Discuss the friendship between George and Lennie, an important friendship in your own life, and the qualities of a good friend.

The quality of a good friend is you have to be trustworthy and generally very independable being a good listener and one important thing is being fun to be around. George and Lennie have a very close but codependent friendship. George is the wise, thoughtful one Lennie is the physically strong but impulsive one. George and Lennie manage to survive and thrive as long as they do because they have one another. Neither would be able to so without the other. Having a friendship in life could be very helpful if you're going through hard times. That friend could help you feel better if u dont understand something about math or history. That friend could help u out u know is just good to have a friend that u trust around. For Example George is the brains of the operation. He thinks of ways to earn their money, and he helps control Lennie and make sure that he behaves himself. The two different characters manage not to clash, but instead balance each other out. They are both helping each other, That's what a good friendship should be doing.
