Step 3 is incorrect.

Explanation:

In step 3, the distributive property is used incorrectly. You are supposed to distribute 4 to both the x AND the -1. So the steps would be:

1. 4(x - 1) + 3 = 18

2. 4(x - 1) = 15

3. 4x - 4 = 15

4. 4x = 19

5. x = 19/4
