David is a sophomore in high school and is studying for his United States history exam, in which he must recall all of the battles in the American Revolutionary War. 1.) Metacognition refers to one's awareness of and ability to regulate one's own thinking. David had this awareness that he has difficulty remembering what he had studied. He was reminding himself that he should try to remember all battles he had studied.
