I will use elimination.  Multiply the first equation by 2 and the second equation by -5 to eliminate y

2(7x+5y)=96*2

14x + 10y = 192

The second equation

-5(3x+2y)= 40*-5

-15x -10y = -200

Add the equations together

14x + 10y = 192

-15x -10y = -200

-x = -8

Multiply by -1

x = 8

Now we need to find y

3x+2y= 40

3(8) +2y = 40

24+2y = 40

Subtract 24 from each side

24-24 +2y = 40-24

2y = 16

Divide by 2

2y/2 =16/2

y =8
