But there are other ways, such as showing him that there is a point and possibly asking him about what's wrong and why he's upset. If something of the worse happens seek medical help.

You should show him that you care about him 100% and that it would be hard on you if he did somethin. If worse comes to worse then convince him to call for the help line.
